Aindrita upset over sandalwood paycheque

Aindrita Ray raised many eyebrows when she said that she is upset with the Kannada industry.

Aindrita Ray raised many eyebrows when she said that she is upset with the Kannada industry.

The actress stated this at the press conference of her upcomng film Niruttara, held on Tuesday, when she was asked why she is seen in few Sandalwood films.

Aindrita shares with City Express the reason for her unhappiness:

"I get good scripts but producers run away when we discuss remuneration and that was my complaint.

In every film industry, even in  Hollywood, heroines are paid less than heroes. But in our industry, the difference in the remuneration is huge. Most of the heroines in Sandalwood are getting 5 to 10 per cent of what heroes get paid." It is too little and too much of a difference, according to her. "That is what I have been sad about," she explains.

According to Aindrita, even after 18 or 19 films, she has seen little increase in her remuneration. "I have been liking scripts and wanting to be part of those films. But there is not much encouragement in terms of payment," she says.

"I am taking up projects for which producers are ready to spend lavishly on the script as well as on my remuneration," she adds.

The actress has two more projects that are to be released. "Both are big projects, but I am not supposed to talk about them since I have signed a contract with them. I will be happy to share details about my two films once I am allowed to," she signs off.
