Even as Rakshit Shetty and Rashmika Mandanna are still reeling in the success of their film, Kirik Party, rumours of their engagement seemed to have surprised their fans. According to the reports, the two are scheduled to get engaged on May 30 and are set to enter holy matrimony in June.

Having completed the first of of her Telugu film on May 4, Rashmika got busy with her final year examinations and wasn’t available to comment on the rumours. It was, however, the calm and composed Rakshit Shetty who seemed well armed with his responses to the matrimony speculations.

And when City Express spoke to the actor, we only got chuckles from the actor. He seemed to be blushing at the rumours doing the rounds. While the actor did not deny or admit to being in love with Rashmika, all Rakshit told us was:

“As of now we are concentrating on our respective careers and I will talk about marriage, only after two years from now”. He further said, “Marriage is not only two people’s opinion. It involves families too which is why I am taking my own time.”

Though we couldn’t get Rashmika online, her mother cleared the air about her daughter’s marriage. “The fact is Rakshit’s mother has always expressed her wish to have a girl like Rashmika as her daughter-in-law, which she told me when I had met her and even I find Rakshit to be an intelligent person and a gentleman. “Though I respect Rashmika choice, but as of now her marriage is not on the cards,” she says.

Rakshit's Directorial Project Postponed

Sudeep starer Thugs of Malgudi directed by Rakshit has been indefinitely postponed. The confirmation came through Sudeep when he tweeted: “#Thugs has been indefinetly postponed. Rakshit needs more time on the script as he’s working on ASN, his nxt in line.My wshs r always wth him.”(sic). Apparently Rakshit, who is busy with his next project Avane Sriman Narayana, is unable to concentrate on the Thugs of Malgudi script. “I am the writer of Avane Sriman Narayana and the actor. The script work is taking some time and I can’t get my eyes on two subjects at the same time. I have decided to postpone Sudeep’s film for better output,” he says. Sudeep is now busy with The Villain directed by Prem.
