The trailer of Hindu Krishna’s upcoming film, Madve takes us back to a critical-acclaimed film, Thithi, especially with the style of making. However, the first-time director says that he has not followed any sort of conventional pattern or style. “Thithi was an out-and-out entertainer, which dealt with the idea of death, and blended in humour. My film traces the idea of marriage 50 years ago, and looks at how the institution of marriage has changed from our parents’ generation,” says the debutant director, adding, “I have tried to explore the culture of Mandya, Chamarajanagar and surrounding areas in my film.”

The film starts with a groom who is hunting for a bride, and lands up in Chikkhankanhalli. “We look at groom and bride hunting and what ensures,” says the director.

Having learnt about films at Dr Rajkumar Institute in Mysuru, the director, an MBA graduate, who worked at Infosys in the HR department quit his corporate career to follow his passion. He has previously assisted director Baraguru Ramachandrappa before turning independent director with Madve.

Except for the heroine Aarohi Gowda, who is a stage artiste, the director has roped in mostly non-actors for his film, and includes the hero Arya. “Since they were all very new to the camera, everyone was trained for three months before they went on the sets,” says Hindu, who has adapted sync sound to his film and live instruments.

Madve produced by Paramesh and Pushpa under Maata Pithru Entertainments has cinematography by Amar Nag and music by Prashanth Aradhyaa. The film is now doing the festival rounds. Madve was screened at the Calicut Film Festival and has been in the final list of Kolkata Films Film. Madve will also be getting international recognition with the film getting a special screening in California.
