Rashmika Mandanna turns investigative officer in 'Vrithra'

Not long ago, Rashmika Mandanna had created a buzz with her next Kannada project with debutant director, R Gautham Iyer. She also went on record on how excited she was to play an investigative officer and chess player.

The latest news on the film is its name, which we are told is fictional. The makers, who are revealing the official poster of the film, have titled it Vrithra. Gautham says, “It is a fictional word created for the film. The title has a lot to do with the film, but expanding the word might reveal the plot. One can have a clear picture as to how the title is related to the story once the audience watch the film. Till then, we hope retain that curiosity.”

In all likelihood, the film is scheduled to go on floors from the first week of August. The first-time director who is glad to have Rashmika Mandanna on board, goes on to say how he conceptualised the script for the film. “Whenever I had an idea, I used to sit down and write a story. Meanwhile, I happened to come across a certain news article, which helped me get the right point for the screenplay of my film. It is an integral element of my story. My co-writer and me were able to quickly draft the story, and that’s how Vrithra story came about,” he says.

On roping in Rashmika into the film, he tells us that it happened when he was working in Rakshit Shetty’s production house - Paramvah Studios-- and was an associate in Kiranraj’s debut project 777 Charlie. “The subject I was working on is very timely, and felt that it should be told now. I actually had a character like Rashmika in mind, someone who would be able to portray a different look. Since the Saanvi girl of Kirik Party has never played a role like this, I decided to rope her in. While there is an innocence on her face, she also comes across as a strong performer. Since I had seen her offscreen, her mannerisms fit the kind of character we had created,” he says.  The makers are now in the process of finalising the other cast and the technicians, before they kick start the shoot.
