THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Movies can motivate minds. The makers of the Malayalam flick ‘Four Friends’ knew this well and have done their bit for the patients of Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) here. They have handed over clippings from the movie where legendary actor Kamal Hassan is heard lifting the spirits of cancer-affected patients.
The 12-minute-long scene was handed over by producer of the movie Tomichan Mulakupadam to Dr Kusumakumari, chief paediatrician, RCC, at a function held at the hospital the other day. Saji Surendran, the director of the movie, Krishna Poojappura, its script-writer and Anil Nair, the cameraman of the movie, were also present. ‘Sasneham’, the Orkut community of singer G Venugopal, has been instrumental in providing the same to RCC. This community was chosen as the winner of a contest organised by Big FM radio station to select the best friendship initiative.
Kamal Hassan has made a cameo appearance in the movie, which has Jayaram, Kunchacko Boban, Jayasurya and Meera Jasmine in the lead. ‘’People will remember not how you died, but how you lived your life. All of us will die. When you have a disease, it is good not to think about it. Cancer is like an enemy. Don’t succumb to the enemy, instead fight it out,’’ the actor is heard saying in the movie.
He even cites the examples of his loved ones, including his lady love actress Gowthami, who have fought against the disease.
