The year 2010 was a convincing one for actor Dileep as he added two hits- Karyasthan and Marykkundoru Kunjadu- to his credit. The actor is expecting to keep on the good run in 2011 also with multi-starrers like China Town and Christian  Brothers. Simultaneously, he is clever enough to find time for exploring emotive roles.

Director Madhu Kaithapram’s new movie Orma Mathram will see Dileep doing the lead role. The movie, scripted by C V Balakrishnan, is expected to be a refreshing change for the actor from the typical comical cameos.

“Orma Mathram unfolds the story of Ajayan and his wife Safiya. Ajayan works as a clerk of a leading advocate, Warrier. They had a love marriage and the couple leads a happy life. But destiny strikes one day as their lone son is found missing,” C V Balakrishnan says. He says that the movie depicts a subject with a universal appeal. “Nearly 5,000 cases of ‘child missing’ are being registered on an average every year in India. The film tries to trace out what happens to the missing children.”

Balakrishnan said that the film, shot in the backdrop of Fort Kochi, is also a reminder of the lost glory of a bygone era of Jews.

“The characters Samson and his wife are two Jews who run an antique shop in Mattanchery. The characters have much significance in the movie and are representatives of the once-dominant Jews in Mattanchery,” Balakrishnan said.

Dileep portrays the role of Ajayan while Priyanka dons Safiya. Jagathy is advocate Warrier while Nedumudi Venu plays the role of Samson. It is  after a long gap of ten years that C V Balakrishnan is penning the script for a movie. The last movie he had scripted was Satyan Anthikkad’s Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal which was a super hit.

Orma Mathram is director Madhu Kaithapram’s third movie. Madhu, who shot to fame with the much-acclaimed Ekantham and Madhyavenal is, for the first time, teaming up with a frontline actor like Dileep. M J Radhakrishnan is the cinematographer of the movie. Kaithapram pens the lyrics to which Kaithapram Viswanath sets the tune. Johnson will handle the background music while Ranjan Abraham is the editor.

Produced by Rajan Thaliparamba under the banner of Horrizon Movie International, Orma Mathram

will hit the screens by April-end.
