Amala Paul might be the youngest to romance Mohanlal, but those who have watched ‘Run Baby Run’ can’t stop raving about the duo’s scorching-hot chemistry. So the ‘Mynaa’ girl has finally flown home, that too creating fireworks at the box office with her very first mainstream outing.
“I feel blessed to be part of such a brilliant film,” says the starlet who has been sparking off a lot of steam lately in other languages. Amala also adds that the response has been amazing for the Mohanlal-Joshiy film. “More than the film being a money-spinner, I am touched by the way it’s celebrated in the social media. Everybody wants it to be remade into all major languages,” she says.
Amala, who insists she is not game for arm-candy roles, says it was the script that made her sign the dotted lines. “Renuka, the aggressive media person I play in the film, is essentially a multilayered character. Moreover she shares an equal reel time with the hero,” she says.
Amala adds that she is very choosy about her films as she has learned it the hard way. “In the beginning I made some bad picks, but now I have the privilege to rate and select a script. Now I know the pulse of the audience and the extent to which they love me. At this point of my career all I want is not to repeat myself,” she says.
Amala says she was well aware of the danger involved in sharing the screen with Mohanlal.
“He can easily create an impact without even moving a muscle. Matching up to the level of an ace actor like him is nearly impossible. He is an individual who spreads a lot of positive energy and tries his level best to keep his co-stars in a comfort zone. Not everybody get a chance to act with him and in my career it happened so early and I am really proud of it,” she says.
The film has a clear-cut love track, but it’s not blown out of proportion making it look awkward. “Another apprehension was how the two of us will hit it off as a pair. But once the film was released the pairing got a thumbs up and now everybody wants to watch the ‘Attumanal’ song over and again.”
The actress, who has been flooded with Mollywood offers post RBR, says as of now her hands are full with Tamil and Telugu projects.
“There are good films like ‘Indian Rupee’ I missed owing to date issues, but I am looking forward to good scripts from here. Right now I am doing a Telugu film with Ram Charan called ‘Nayak’ and then there is one bilingual by Samudrakani.” So when is the next time we get to watch her in a Malayalam movie? “I don’t think it’s possible very soon, may be sometime next year,” she signs off.
