Dileep is an actor who is known for his innumerous onscreen escapades that have regularly created a thumping impact at the box office. The actor who has the knack to grab the attention of the family audience is back with yet another mass entertainer, Nadodimannan, that will hit the screens next month. Directed by Viji Thampi, the film will see Dileep in the role of a hired protestor-turned-Mayor. Shot mainly at locations in Thiruvananthapuram, the film will present many relevant social issues in a humorous vein.

Veteran scenarist Krishna Poojapura, who has penned the screenplay and dialogues of the film says, “Nadodimannan has every flavour that is part of a quintessential Dileep movie, from comic one-liners to action scenes to colourful song sequences. Dileep plays the role of a small-town guy Padmanabhan, who hails from Palakkad.”

Padmanabhan is a commoner who strives to make both ends meet. He is the son of a staunch party activist. One day he reaches the capital city where he starts to make a living by participating in dharnas and processions of different political parties for money. “The man who does not have any inclination towards politics ends up being the Mayor of the city, and the exciting events and interesting people he comes across forms the plot of the film,” says Krishna.

The scenarist says that though the film focuses on the social issues that the Mayor addresses, it is not a hard-hitting political drama. “The movie is a light-hearted take at  issues that affect the common man. Power plays a major metaphor in the film. For instance, it focuses on the negative influence of power on a person. It also throws light on the corruptive influence the people around a powerful person has on him.” But the scenarist is quick to add that since the script of the film was written some time back, the story has no connection with the political issues that are hitting the state of late.

There are three heroines in the film portrayed by Ananya, Mythili and Archana Kavi. Ananya plays Meera, a village belle, who boldly faces the harsh realities of life. Mythili dons the role of Rima, a broadcast journalist, while Archana Kavi is Athira, a doctor who belongs to the royal family of Thiruvananthapuram. “All three characters have prominent roles in the life of Padmanabhan,” says Krishna.

A major highlight of the film is the presence of Bollywood actor Sayaji Shinde who is debuting in Mollywood playing the villain of the film. Nedumudi Venu, Janardhanan, Salim Kumar and Suraj Venjarammoodu are the other actors of the film.

The music director of the film is Vidyasagar. Sanjeev Sankar cranks the camera.
