Jamna Pyari directed by Thomas Sebastian will be a colourful outing for Onam, playing out flavours of humour and love
On a Positive Note

Who is ‘Jamna Pyari’, or What is ‘Jamna Pyari’? Puzzled by the same? Then M’Town audience has to be patient till Onam. The intriguing question is put forth in the recently released trailer of Jamna Pyari. Helmed by Thomas Sebastian, who earlier directed Mammootty-starrer Maya Bazar, the latest flick Jamna Pyari will be an out and out entertainer, say its makers.

Jamna Pyari is the journey of humour, love and drama revolving around Vasoottan and his confidantes. “The film revolves around Vasoottan, an auto driver, who is a very kind and helpful guy. He is a person who always sees life in a positive light irrespective of any hardship he has to face,” says P R Arun, who has penned the script. Kunchacko Boban dons the role of Vasoottan in the movie.

Jamna Pyari imparting a social message in a light manner, talks on the sidelines of people’s attitude of escapism too. “Kerala is one such place where suicide rates are high. It is because, people when encountered with the trial and tribulations of life, mostly have the attitude to think ‘it is impossible to overcome or solve’ and easily accept the failures. But our protagonist is a person who always believes in being positive. In Vasoottan’s dictionary there is nothing called intractable,” says Arun who has turned as independent scriptwriter with the film.

Jamna Pyari is also a flavourful jaunt of love. “Parvathy is Vasoottan’s heartthrob but to reach to her, he has to unlock a lock. And film traverses Vasoottan’s search for the key to reach his princess,” says Arun. Miss Kerala 2014 winner Gayathri Suresh essays the role of Parvathy. Gayathri will be playing a simple lovable girl in the film. “Parvathy is the complete opposite to Vasoottan. She has a negative attitude towards life, with lot of fear and anxiety,” he adds. Maniyanpilla Raju portrays Parvathy’s father Ramachandran.

Suraj Venjaramoodu plays prominent role in the movie. “He plays K P Sabu, close friend of Vasoottan and Muthumani plays his wife,” adds Arun.

The plot happening in and around the locales of Thrissur, will also be the first film where Kunchacko Boban will be trying out Thrissur slang. “He will be speaking Thrissur dialect but in the movie various characters will be speaking different slangs as these days people from different region reside at same place. For instance Joy Mathew, who plays Prakash ettan, will be speaking Kozhikode dialect while Tony played by Neeraj Madhav speaks Kochi slang,” informs Arun. Renji Panicker as Sreedharan, Aju Varghese, Anumol and Sijoy Varghese also form the rest of the cast. “After 12 years, actress Roja will be coming back to Mollywood,” he adds.

Gopi Sundar has composed the music for Santhosh Varma and Hari Narayan’s lyrics. Camera is wielded by Anishlal R S.  Jamna Pyari produced by Jaison Elamgulam will be a Onam release.
