Srinda on finding her niche

Srinda has two back-to-back films lined up for release
Srinda on finding her niche

Srinda says she had to unlearn a lot before getting into the garb of Sharada, the village belle in Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s Pinneyum. “In all my other films there are traces of my real self, but here you won’t find even a minute tinge of Srinda,” she adds. The actress is all elated about the film, her first association with the global ambassador of Malayalam cinema. “It’s an honour to be part of an Adoor film. I went there with a blank mind and it was Adoor sir who imparted every  nuance of Sharada.”

The actress has back-to-back releases this month as Pinneyum will be followed by Popcorn. In Popcorn she plays Sharon, the female lead, and Srinda says the film was more like an excursion. Popcorn, mainly shot in Nashik, is woven around a trip undertaken by Sharon and her cousin. “Most of my combination scenes are with Soubin and Shine. We share a special bond and we enjoyed every second of this reunion after Annayum Resoolum. Having co-actors with the same wavelength will inspire the performer in you,” says the actress who is presently busy with Jibu Jacob’s Mohanlal film. “In that I am paired opposite Anoop Menon,” she adds.

Be it a blink-and-miss role or an extended cameo, the actress has always made the audience sit and take note. Srinda adds reel time has never been her priority and she doesn’t really want to do full-length character if not backed by the script. “I haven’t regretted doing any of my films. I sign a film when I am convinced that it will make me happy and content at the end. Screen space and reach are two different things and as an actor I want my character to reach maximum people,” she winds up.
