‘Lailakam’ in Ezra is nothing but Lilac!
Ever since the song ‘Lailakam...’ in Prithviraj-starrer Ezra got released, the word ‘Lailakam..’ was trending. Now, hear it from the horse’s mouth about what it means. Lyricist Harinarayanan, who penned the song, says he wanted a strong hook word for the song and the search ended in ‘Lailakam’.
“Rahul Raj had composed the music first. We wanted a hook word for the song that would convey the mood. Then, the word Lailakam’ came into my mind. I drew inspiration from a poem by Balachandran Chullikad, wherein the word ‘Lailakam’ was used. Basically, it means lilac flower and we just gave it a Malayali twist. Since the song is set in a urban background, I felt it suited the mood too,” says the lyricist.
The melodious song has crossed 1 million views on YouTube. Sung by Haricharan, the song had instantly become a hit when it was released, crossing 2.5 Lakh views within less than 24 hours.
Ezra, a horror thriller written and directed by Jay K, features Prithviraj Sukumaran, Priya Anand, Tovino Thomas, Sujith Shanker and Vijayaraghavan.
