‘I have gone for unalloyed humour in my debut script’

Neeraj Madhav says he landed in front of camera by accident, the ‘aspiring-director-ending-up-as-an-actor scene’ as he puts it. So turning scenarist was more of a planned and premeditated affair, perhaps his first move towards wielding the megaphone one day.

“Luvakusha will be a simple, unpretentious entertainer. From kids to grandparents, it’s a recipe fit for all generations,” he says about the film directed by Gireesh Mano, who earlier did Nee Ko Na Cha.

While Neeraj and Aju Varghese step into the title roles, joining them will be Biju Menon, who plays a key character. He adds the film has nothing to do with the myth

ological twins, “at one point the characters assume that names. I play Lavan and Aju plays Kushan.”
With a young, vibrant crew on board, nearly half of the film will be shot in Chennai.

“It’s my first script and I have gone for pure, unalloyed humour in this. I haven’t tried to bring in a serious or socially-relevant angle, but I have attempted a fresh style of storytelling. Music scored by Gopi Sundar will be another highlight,” he adds. Rest of the cast, including the lead ladies, is yet to be confirmed.

Neeraj says he has been working on Luvakusha for while, “I had these story threads even before I entered the industry. During the shoot of Jamna Pyari, the producer said he would like to do a film with me and Aju.

Then I started working on it developing the script, making the canvas bigger and bringing in a star like Biju Menon. It took me some time to finish the script in between acting assignments,” he says. Luvakusha, produced by Jaison Elamgulam, is currently progressing in Chennai.
