Bellary Naga (Kannada) Cast: Vishnuvardhan, Manasi, Avinash, Chitra Shenoy, Rajesh, Shobaraj, Nagasekhar, Ramesh Bhat, Dharma Director: Dinesh Babu BELLARY Naga is Saahasa Simha Dr Vishnuvardhan’s 199th film and fans are expecting a lot from the movie.

Though it must be appreciated that Dr Vishnuvardhan agreed to act in this film, director Dinesh Babu has not succeeded in exploiting the former’s acting skills and experience. But Vishnuvardhan’s colourful costumes and glasses will be quite a treat for his fans.

The lack of duet songs and comedy makes the film a tad bit bland. It would have been a better film had Babu included one duet between Manasi and Vishnuvardhan.

Manasi, the lead actress, has nothing to do except for appearing in a few scenes. The other lacuna in this film is that its title has nothing to do with its script. It is unclear why the director or producer selected this title for this film.

As far as Vishnuvardhan’s performance goes, it is good.

His dialogue delivery is good but the story has no potential to utilise his acting skills. Shobaraj and Rajesh are convincing as villains. Avinash and Ramesh Bhat have provided good support. However, music director LN Sastry, who makes a comeback after a long gap, is disappointing.

The story is about Vishwanath Gowda (Avinash), an affluent person and widower, who marries a widow, Parvathy (Chitra Shenoy) without knowing that the latter had a son Naga. When Naga comes to meet his mother, she refuses to accept him as her son.

Vishwanath renames Naga as Naga Manikyam and helps him become self-reliant. Vishwanath dies of a cardiac arrest and Naga Manikyam alias Bellary Naga becomes the custodian of his vast property. Meanwhile, Vishwanath’s son Rajendra Gowda (Rajesh) joins hands with vicious Naidu (Shobaraj) to avenge Naga. If you are Vishnuvardhan’s fan, you may want to watch the movie.
