With the backdrop of the advertising world, ‘Thiru Thiru…’ centers around the escapades and misadventures of a twosome, as they try to find a suitable baby to model for a baby product. Debutante director Nandini (who apprenticed with Priya), keeps the narration light-hearted, with mild humour weaved in.
It all begins when Arjun (Ajmal), who is searching for a suitable baby, finds himself saddled with a cute baby. Even as he tries to search out for its mother who seems to have vanished, Arjun with the shoot drawing near, decides to use the baby for the shoot. Helping him is colleague and buddy Archana (Rupa), who sneaks into his bachelor pad to help him cope with the tiny tot.
The contrasting personalities of the duo — she responsible and organized while he is carefree and takes life easy — leads to some tiffs.Until of course, the inevitable happens. With their clients insisting on a consent letter from the baby’s parents before the shoot, it’s a mad rush for the duo to meet the deadline.
The script traverses through kidnapping and ransom, and a child trafficking gang. The climax is a free for all, as the duo, the baby, the cops and the goons, all converge at Pondichery, where the trail leads to. It is here that the otherwise fast-paced story tends to lag. While it’s a promising effort form Nandini, in her future projects she could try to infuse a tad more punch and fizz, that would get her better audience acceptability.
For Ajmal, Arjun is a role lighter and more fun-filled than his earlier ones and the actor essays it with youthful exuberance.
Rupa is a vibrant, pretty find.
Keeping the proceedings lively is Mouli as their boss. The maiden joint venture of Sathyam cinema and Real Image, ‘Thiru Thiru…’ , is a clean youthful entertainer, targeted at an urban crowd.
