Debutante director Prasad of KR Puram, who has also done the script, screenplay and music for the film Preethiya Theru is lucky to have a producer like Lokesh Reddy who spent pots of money on this film. Thanil, Lokesh Reddy's son, debuts as a hero with this film.

Had he undergone some training to learn the nuances of acting, the film would have held the possibility of being a better one.

As far as Thanil’s acting is concerned, he has a long way to go before he can carve out a niche for himself in Sandalwood.

He is good in stunt sequences but the same cannot be said about his performance in emotional scenes, where he looks mostly stoic. Lokesh, plays a Guruji in the movie.

Character artiste-cum-journalist Vijaysarathy not only looks different (with a wig) but also plays a different role (a discotheque owner who encourages and supports girls to select partners).

The other drawback of this film is the two heroines - Madhu Mitha and Sonia. They neither have the looks nor the ability to act in romantic sequences.

And to top it off, their lip movements hardly synchronise while delivering dialogues.

The movie is about Shakthi (Thanil), a disappointed and dejected lover. He advises boys not to fall in love with girls. He even threatens lovers with a dagger and also makes boys to chew green chillies for being friendly with girls. His friends admit him in a hospital where Dr Spoorthi (Sonia), one of Shakthi’s beneficiaries, help him recover from his mental illness.

At this juncture, the director narrates how Shakthi, a henchman of Guruji (Lokesh Reddy) falls in love with Preethi (Madhumitha) and how she mistakes him and wants to take a revenge.

He also tells how she teaches Shakti a lesson by deciding to marry his arch rival, Seena (Dharma) and how she realises her mistake.

The movie is worth watching if you go to the theatre without expecting too much entertainment.
