BANGALORE: It can be added to the list of many Kannada films that created much buzz and later crashed at the box office beyond redemption. If the theme is of any indication, it seems director Mahesh Babu is desperate for a set of new ideas. Babu has given more importance to astrology than the performance of artistes in Chiru. The concept of the film itself is incongruous.

Chiru is Chiranjeevi Sarja's third successive failure as the hero. His previous films were Vaayuputhra and Gandedhe. It is unfortunate that Sarja failed to realise the importance of acting even after the failure of his other films at the box office.

The problem with Sarja is that he cannot differentiate between emotion and happiness. He looks apathetic in the scenes where he is expected to be active. He looks tensed  when he is supposed to be happy. A classic example is the bus scene where he meets Kiran and Kruthi.

The other blunder is a stunt sequence where Sarja is grievously injured but walks and even prevents goons from attacking the heroine. The audience will see him in a perfect condition in the very next scene. There are no answers for the queries like, what happens to his injuries? Where does he availed treatment?

There is nothing commendable about the acting skills of heroine Kruthi Kharbanda.

The major disadvantage of this film is lack of comedy which would have given the much needed break from the monotonous verbose narration. Bullet Prakash tries his best to make the audience giggle but fails.

The movie is about the Home Minister (Rangaayana Raghu), who attends a college function at Hubli, where he meets an astrologer. The home minister refuses to believe the prediction by the astrologer about his daughter’s marriage. He also happens to see Chiru (Chiranjeevi Sarja), who not only stops his vehicle but also indulges in a verbal duel with a police officer (P N Satya).

After a few days, Chiru comes to Bangalore from Hubli to attend an interview for the post of music teacher. Chiru happens to see a girl's photograph instead of Lord Ganesha’s statue before attending the interview. He gets selected and then tries to trace the girl to convey his thanks.

Meanwhile, Madhu (Kruthi Kharbanda), the daughter of the Home Minister, meets Chiru. Madhu introduces Chiru to her lover Dileep (Kiran). The Home Minister mistakes Chiru as Madhu’s lover and asks his goons to send him back to Hubli. He even asks Chiru’s employer to cancel his appointment. Madhu tries to elope with Dileep when her father decides to arrange her betrothal to another person.

The one and only consolation is the music. It is worth watching if you absolutely have no other option to spend your leisure time.
