The hero with no focus in life, whiles away his time with like minded cronies. A bane of his family, and distrusted by villagers, the film is all about how the thoughtless acts of the gang lead to unfortunate consequences. So what’s new one might ask. Nothing really, for the film is a mediocre product with neither any novelty in its scripting nor in its style of presentation.
Set in a rural milieu the plot revolves around Sasi (Sanjeev) and his three buddies. Their callous, derogatory comments about all and sundry disrupt family lives, breaks relationships and earns them enemies. Sasi realises the seriousness of it all when his friends get killed one by one. Sanjeev, adequate in his role, does whatever the character demands.
Though the director attempts to add a bit of suspense to the identity of the killer, it is not difficult for the audience to guess. There are too many characters, none getting satisfactory space. The villain of the piece raves and rants about the wrong done to his family, but takes his own time to get back at Sasi and gang.
Sasi has a love track with the perky Sindhu (Monika), the duo’s romantic interludes mainly for the endless song-dance routine.
Manobala and Thennale are the two cops on the prowl, meant to be the comic duo. But they hardly generate any laugh. There are a couple of witty lines and some humorous moments, where the friends inadvertently spill the beans on their neighbours. But such moments are few and far between. An insipid narration and a lacklustre script makes sure that we lose interest soon enough.
The new year opened with two simultaneous releases (Nanbargal Gavanathirku, Kurumbukara Pasanga) for Sanjeev. Unfortunately, both would do nothing to boost his career or get him noticed. After his debut ‘Kulir 100’ Sanjeev is yet to get a suitable banner or a sound script that would showcase his real talent.
