A breezy courtship after which the couple walks down the aisle and live happily ever after. With this scene, the end credits of most films roll out, hinting that all is well after tying the knot. But 'Angry Babies in Love' is a far cry from the done-to-death frames, say the makers. The real story of the Anoop Menon-Bhavana starrer movie begins there. Directed by Saji Surendran, Angry Babies in Love is a light-veined entertainer that narrates the hilarious incidents that take place in the life of a couple who finds their love not as candy-coated as they dreamed when they entered into wedlock.
In Angry Babies in Love too, the hero falls head over heels with the charming and rich heroine. And they elope the day before the marriage, but the real story takes a turn there, says Krishna Poojapura, the scenarist of the movie. Krishna, who has worked five back-to-back films with Saji says, “Love after marriage is the subject of the film, and its story is inspired from the lives of several couples living around us.”
The idea of the film occurred to Anoop Menon some years ago. “Anoop narrated the storyline to Saji, and we decided to move forward with it,” says the scenarist.
The plot begins in a church. Jeevan, a still photographer who runs his father’s studio in Idukki, falls for Sarah, the daughter of a rich planter. They find the relationship picture perfect, and when the family objects, they get married and flee to Mumbai. But from thereon begins life’s complications.
“Life after marriage was not as romantic as they dreamt, as the real differences in their personalities began to affect their marriage. What they found beautiful about each other initially, began to irritate them the most when they started living under a roof. Jeevan, whose sole aim in life is to become a famous still photographer stays away from domestic chores. Sarah, a practical person gets disturbed,” explains Krishna.
Jeevan being a mediocre photographer cannot achieve his dreams and so he fights always with his wife. A weary Sarah starts a tiny coffee shop and a pizza outlet. She confronts the chaos of life boldly and earns a livelihood by delivering pizzas at houses and other small chores. Though the married life of the fighting couple is tumultuous, it is narrated in a humorous way, adds Krishna.
There are a few friends who influence the couple’s life like P Balachandran, Noby, Kalabhavan Shaju and Nishanth Sagar. While Balachandran dons the role of their neighbour Madhavan who is a bachelor, Anusree acts as their Tamil maid named Selvi.
Vayalar Sarathchandra Varma and Rajeev Alunkal have penned three songs for the film. Music is composed by Bijipal. Anil Nair wields the camera.
The film produced by Darshan Ravi under the banner of Demac Creations will reach the theatres by January second week.
