Loosegalu (Kannada)

A shapeless romcom

Loosegalu is a film that holds a magnifying glass and exposes everything about money, women and ego. An eccentric offer from director Arun, this 'loosely' made film is about three youths - taxi driver Shankar (Akul Balaji), a mechanic, Buji (Shreeki) and a cricket betting racketeer Kabir (Sri Murali) and how their lives get intertwined.

Each one has a love interest. Shankar needs money to take care of his ill mother and depends on his girl Milky (Aisshwarya Nag), who is working in a call centre. Buji is in love with his garage owner's daughter Haseena (Shravya), a deaf and mute girl and Kabir, who is into betting comes across Maggie at a dance bar and both move in together.

In an attempt to win Haseena's heart, Buji loots a bank and in the chase, hops in to Shankar's taxi.

Buji threatens Shankar and asks him to keep driving till they reach a resort. On the other side, Kabir is travelling to the same destination to meet Maggie, who is now the owner of the resort.

The three meet and later become friends for a few hours.

Then tension rises and a messy conversation takes place which leads to Shankar killing Buji and then shooting himself.

Why strangers who turn friends later become killers is the crux of the story which is narrated through flashbacks.

This romantic comedy is lovably shapeless, with a shoddy storyline and low key comedy.

Despite an array of talented actors like Sri Murali, Srikanth and  Akul Balaji, the film fails to impress.

Newcomer Shravya comes out quite confident in her first film while Aisshwarya Nag's role is a little hyped.

Rekha has nothing much to do except for appearing in a songs and a few scenes.

Vani Harikrishna's music is quite average.

Nothing much to rave about cinematography by HK Chidananda and quite a half-hearted job at the editing desk.

The Verdict: A moral lesson of sorts, Loosegalu tries to tell us about what happens when we try to take shortcuts to success but it loses track on the way. Better to skip.
