Sonu Gowda a.k.a Shruti Ramakrishna is back with a bang after a small hiatus and is trying her best with an out and out comedy entertainer, Goa. Marriage had kept me away from films but destiny brought me back into what I like the most,” said Sonu, adding, “In  the first place, I didn’t want to leave the industry but somewhere down the lane, I had to listen to my parents and tie the knot.” The actress came to limelight with Soori’s Inti Ninna Preetiya opposite Srinagar Kitty after which she acted in a string of flicks, Paramesha Panwala, Police Quarters and Gulama.  However, she did the disappearing act after tying the wedding knot in year 2010. Maintaining a dignified silence on her married life, Sonu said, “Right now I am not in a position to talk much about it. I will explain everything at the right time.” Sonu’s first comeback offer was Paapasu Kalli  directed by Gadda Viji followed by Half Mental and now she has Goa which will be directed by Suriya and produced by Shankare Gowda. “People got to know I am back when I signed Paapasu Kalli and I could not refuse Half Mental because a few people who were a part of Simple Aagi Ondhu Love Story are working in this movie,” said Sonu, who is playing Sneha’s character in the remake. “I had seen Goa in Tamil and the moment I heard that I will be playing Sneha’s role, I grabbed it. Till date, I have always played the role of a traditional girl. This film will see me as a very stylish heroine and with grey shades in my character.”

Though she was not into mainstream cinema, she did not lose touch with the film world. Sonu kept herself busy with TV commercials. “This gap also added more creativity to my portrayal. There was a time when I wanted all my films to be like Soori’s Inti Nina... I was waiting for the same type of role and character. Later, I realised that everybody can’t be Soori uncle. The last two years has taught me so much which I will mould it and display in my future films,” she said.
