Actor Appukutty, the National  Award winner who impressed everyone with his performance in 'Azhagarsamiyin Kuthirai', seems to be very careful about retaining the recognition the film got him. He is part of many interesting projects this year including director Bharath Bala’s 'Mariyaan' in which Dhanush plays the lead. “I’m playing Dhanush’s friend in the film, but we haven’t started shooting yet” Appukutty informed City Express.

He is happy about sharing screen space with someone he is a big fan of. “I have always been saying that I like Dhanush a lot. I like his acting and dancing. What is admirable about him is that he has worked very hard to become successful,” said Appukutty. Incidentally, Dhanush has also won National Award in 2011 for 'Aadukalam' and 'Mariyaan' will bring two recognised actors together.

Appukutty's next film, 'Mannaru', where he plays the lead, is ready for release and the audio was launched recently. “My character in 'Mannaru' will be different from what I played in 'Azhagarsamiyin Kuthirai'. I hope it will open new avenues for me as an actor,” said Appukutty.

'Mannaru', directed by debutant Jaya Shankar, is about how an ordinary man earns respect in the society by his behaviour. Swathi, who played the heroine in 'Raatinam', and 'Vaishali' plays the heroines in the film and the cast has undergone a training session before the shooting began.

Appukutty is also playing an important role in director Vasanth’s 'Moondru Per Moondru Kaadhal' and has to shoot.

Other projects the actor is part of are 'Sundarapandian', 'Beeman Asthinapuram', 'Kizaku Paartha Veedu' and 'Padithurai'.
