CHENNAI: Directors, producers and actors came together at the audio launch of Sarath Kumar-starrer Sandamarutham, produced under the banner of Magic Frames. The event saw the announcement of the production house’s three other films — Vikram Prabhu-starrer Idhu Enna Maayam, Dhanush’s Maari and Paambu Sattai, starring Bobby Simha of Jigarthanda fame.

At the event, Sarath Kumar said, “I have acted double roles in many films. Most of them have become hits. In Sandamaarutham also, I have played dual characters — that of a hero and villain. When I was talking about it to Rajini sir, he said that villainous roles are more accepted by the audience. He said it was nice that I enacted a villain’s role.” The actor is paired opposite Oviya and Meera Nandan.

The movie has director A Venkatesh and Sarath Kumar coming together after Aei, Mahaprabhu and Chanakya. The film will also see director and actor Samudrakani in an important role, besides the launch of Kannada actor Arun Saagar in Kollywood.  The film is being produced by Radhika Sarathkumar and Listings Stephen, who has been part of many films in Malayalam.

Revealing the storyline of Sandamaarutham, Venkatesh said, “The film is based on a real life incident. Many films have been made on the lives of police officers. In this film, we have showed what went inside a police department.”

Actors Dhanush, Bobby Simha, Vikram Prabhu, Oviya, Keerthi Suresh and Radha Ravi were present at the launch, along with directors Bobby Mohan, Adam Dasan, AL Vijay and others.  Audience also got to see the first look of Idhu Enna Mayam, Maari and Paambu Sattai. Idhu Enna Mayam is directed by A L Vijay. The movie stars Vikram Prabhu opposite Keerthi Suresh, daughter of actor Maneka. Maari and Pambu Sattai are directed by directed by Balaji Mohan and Adam Dasan respectively. Actors Narain, Prasanna, Bharath and others were also present.
