Maya, the Heroine of Jinn, holds no mystery about her debut film, which is said to have both horror and humour. A dentist, Maya dreams to be a performer. “Being a first generation actor, it is challenging for me in the industry” she says.
Maya dreams to be a part of AR Murugadoss’s movies. “Kalpana of Ghajini is my inspiration. Ever since then, I have been a fan of Surya sir. I dream being cast opposite him.
Genelia being her role model in life, Maya has a positive approach towards her career in this industry. “She had actually played a typical teenage girl in all her films. That is how many teenage girls are. If I remember well, during my student days, many used to emulate Genelia,” she said.
Maya has been hearing scripts and is looking for the best one to work. “My experience in the shoot of Jinn was more or less like the movie itself. My co-artistes Kali Venkat, Arjunan, Hari and Muneesh Kanth are basically comedy actors and they were always in their element. They are the emerging stars in the comedy circle and Jinn will see their complete talent in combined force. It was also horror, since all the 33 days, the movie was shot in pitch dark chilly nights at a remote place in Ooty. Once, I received a call while I was in the shooting spot from an unknown number; someone complained about tooth ache. In a shivering tone, the person said, “‘I am not able to bite any body’s throat with this tooth. I am a vampire...blood thirsty vampire.” I screamed out in fear and ran here and there. I was shivering in fright and had fever too. Later, I realised that it was a prank played by my co-actors,” she said with a smile.
