One reason why comedy actor Santhanam has enjoyed immense success in the film industry is because of his willingness to observe and learn.
From being a television anchor, the man now dons several hats including that of a comedian, a hero and a producer. What’s more he also has plans to turn director.
During a casual interaction with mediapersons recently, Santhanam was seen constantly referring to decisions being made by those in Hollywood. When asked about it, he replied, “We have to learn some things from them. Once, I sent a script to a Hollywood firm. They had asked for it and so I sent them one. I myself hadn’t read it completely but they wrote a detailed mail to me asking why certain things had to be done in a manner and why it couldn’t be done in another fashion? I was stunned. The points they had made couldn’t have been made without reading the document completely and I hadn’t expected them to do that. At the same time, I had gone to invite a friend for a function at my place. I presented the invitation card to him which he accepted and placed it on the table in front. He then turned to me and asked, “So, where is this function being held?” I told him the place. The next question followed, ‘When is it happening?’ I told that too. But it occurred to me that when we don’t take the time or effort to go through a simple invitation card, they make an effort to read an entire document. I decided then that I would make an effort to read from then.”
