Music director Ilaiyaraaja, who is now receiving treatment at a private hospital in the city, recently announced the launch of his official website and official YouTube channel. The sites, www.ilaiyaraajalive.com and ilaiyaraaja Official YouTube channel, will now enable millions of his fans, friends and well wishers to stay updated on all his projects and know all about his life.

“A lot of sites were wrongly claiming that they were his (Ilaiyaraaja’s) official website. The launch of these two sites will put an end to all such false claims and sites,” an official from Trendloud, the company managing the Maestro’s official YouTube channel said.

The music director also announced a contest for students and fans, the details of which are available on the website.

In a statement, the Maestro, who has been scoring music for over four decades, said, “At IMM, my new  company, the goal for the official channels will be to provide my fans an engaging, entertaining and equally enriching experience through a simplistic design focussed on rich and unique content.”

At the press conference called to announce the launch, the maestro also answered questions posed by mediapersons.

When a journalist pointed out that the fact that he had now launched his official site and YouTube Channel had given rise to speculation that he had now taken an active interest in social media, he replied, “I don’t have time for them(social media). That is not my job also.  I have only one job.”

So. would he share his memories with fans? “When they ask me to do so during interactions on these sites, it will happen,” he said.

Bala’s Thaarai Thappattai is a landmark film for him as it will be the 1000th film that he has scored music for.

Now that he has reached a peak that few can hope to scale, has he got any unfulfilled wish?

“At this moment, my mind is set set on taking on life as it comes. What should I plan for? What more have I got to scale? That does not mean it has ended. What it means is that there is something that you (mediapersons) have missed. You haven’t asked me about something and that is yet to be identified,” he signed off.
