'Visaranai' Impresses Filmmaker Vijay

Vetrimaran’s Visaranai, which was only recently in the news for having been the only Tamil film to have been selected for the 72nd Venice International film festival and for having won the Amnesty International Italy’s Cinema for Human rights award, seems to be garnering praise at home as well. Vijay, who has made films like Madharasapattinam (2010), Deiva Thirumagal (2011) and Thalaiva (2013), has issued a statement, congratulating the director for making what he calls a ‘hard-hitting’ film. Director Vijay lavished praised Vetrimaran that the latter has created a masterpiece, “I watched Vetrimaran’s Visaranai in the US. It is one of the best films made in India. I became speechless after watching the film. The way he has handled the story and the screenplay and the manner in which he has characterised the cast is spectacular. Everyone in the film is so real. It’s a proud moment for Tamil cinema. As a part of this industry, I feel so lucky to have watched it in advance. It’s a MUST WATCH film.”
