Pugs Play the Lead in this Film!

Seems like more and more Tamil directors are taking to making films that feature animals in prominent roles. A film titled Naaikuttypadam is now being made, and as the title suggests, two dogs play important roles in it.

Says a source close to the unit of the film, “It will be a full-fledged comedy. It is being directed by Ranga, who has also penned the script and the dialogues. Two pugs, one named Tony and the other, Geno, have been made to act in this film, which will also feature Nitin Satya and Shruthi Ramakrishnan in important roles.

“Having realised that audiences now expect something different from every film, the makers of the film have embarked on this interesting project. In the film, Nithin Sathya owns the pug Tony and Shruthi owns the other, Geno. Tony goes missing and Nithin Sathya searches for him. At the same time, two politicians and four thieves are also on the look out for this pug for a particular reason. Why they are looking for the pug is what the film is about,” the source says.

The filmmakers chose to buy the pugs before beginning to shoot the film. “After buying the dogs, the makers maintained them well. Six months later, the dogs were trained,” the source informs and points out that the film boasts of a big star cast.

“Apart from Nitin Sathya and Shruthi, the film will also feature M S Baskar, Delhi Ganesh, Vayapuri and Mahanadhi Shankar. It will have music by Das,” he added.
