CHENNAI: Don’t be surprised if you step into an auto and find the trailer/teaser of Iraivi playing! At a promotional event for the movie on Tuesday, director Karthik Subbaraj and actor Bobby Simha, flagged off a dozen autos with LED screens that will play the trailer of the film. An initiative by Shivakumar, CEO, Mobie (a digital advertising company), this feature has been provided in 500 autos across the city.
Talking to the press, Karthick Subbaraj said, “The movie will be released worldwide on June 3 and this will boost its reach. It will be an opportunity for those commuting by autorickshaws to watch the trailer.”
Vijay Venkataraman, GM, Mobie, said, “This application will help people be more aware of the place they are headed to as well. It will give location-specific information and videos. But for now, we have launched the app with the trailer of Iraivi and I thank the whole team for their support.”
Fitted with an audio and video system, the LED screen is engaging and will also be used for digital advertising. “We are the first team to be something like this in India and it is a proud moment for us,” he added.
Bobby Simha, whose latest Tamil political thriller KO 2 is a blockbuster, said he is excited about the release of Iraivi. Talking about his role as a college student in the film and acting with Vijay Sethupathi and S J Surya, he said, “This will be a new experience for the audience. My role required a bit of homework. But I don’t want to talk much about it now. Karthik is a very good friend and I am always surprised by his scripts. All his movies like Pizza (2012) and Jigarthanda (2014) had different scripts; and so will Iraivi.”
While he awaits the release of Iraivi, Bobby Simha is also busy with his venture Vallavanukku Vallavan, which marks his debut as a producer. “I will soon announce two more projects this year,” he added.
While the promotions for the film are in full swing, the director shared that the opening response for a movie always matters. “The opening weekend of a movie is always the most-awaited part. Promotions like these definitely give a boost and I am sure everyone will love the movie,” he said.
The team will release two new parts of the movie, including a promo song, this weekend. “Yes. We are working on it and you can see it this weekend,” the director told City Express.
