Karthi's Acting is Brilliant in Kashmora Says Director Gokul

Ask Gokul about his role and he grins, “I wouldn’t want to disclose that now.

Director Gokul of Itharkkuthaane Aasaipattai Balakumara (2013) fame seems to be swiftly and silently completing his much awaited film Kashmora, featuring Karthi, Nayanthara and Sri Divya in the lead. Sources say that the director has been working non-stop on the film since January.

When City Express got in touch with Gokul, he admitted that he had been working non-stop. “We have been working at a steady pace right from January. Out of the 140 days of work required to make my film, I have already completed over 90 days’ work. We are looking to complete the film by the end of May,” he says.

Gokul, who is happy with the way the film is shaping up, adds, “One reason we have been able to maintain good time is because of the fantastic co-operation I have been getting from the entire team. From the carpenters who help design sets to the top-most actors, everybody has been so co-operative. That’s the reason why I have been able to exactly ‘will’ my concept into reality. I am impressed by the level of precision.”

The film will see Karthi in four or five different avatars. Ask Gokul about his role and he grins, “I wouldn’t want to disclose that now. However, let me confirm the roles of the others. Nayanthara plays a princess in this film, while Sri Divya plays an investigative journalist. With regard to Karthi’s work, I can tell you that I was stunned by his performance in the portions that we have shot till now. It is brilliant! You will realise it when you watch the film.”

Work on the film is in progress at a huge place in the city. “We have installed eight-to-nine huge sets at this place as it would be much easier to shoot these sequences that way. But to arrive at these eight-to-nine sets, the art directors had to come up with over a whopping 400 sketches. We zeroed in on these eight or nine,” says Gokul, adding that his film will have lots of fantasy elements put across in as realistic a manner as possible.

His parting line describes his film best. “Expect this film to be a roller coaster ride. It will be a film that will both entertain and engage you,” he says.
