It looks like it’s going to be a busy year for Tamil film stars, who will not only be working hard on their films, but playing harder on the sports field as well. Apart from shooting for their films, the stars have at least two major sporting events coming up and are working hard to prepare for them.

Sachin.jpgWhile the fiercely contested Celebrity Cricket League is to begin today, the Celebrity Badminton League (CBL) is to begin on January 29 in Dubai. Says actor Arun Vijay, who will be leading Chennai Eagles, one of the four badminton teams participating in the CBL, “Every day, we practise in two sessions. One session is in the morning and the other happens at night, between 9 pm and 12 am. This is to enable stars who are shooting to complete their work and then come for practice. We are taking the matches seriously, not just for fun.”

The other three teams are headed by actors Bharath, Jayam Ravi, and Meena. Says actor Bharath, “The tournament is in the typical international format. Each team will have four women and eight men.  I am told that Sachin Tendulkar himself will honour the winners.”

Arun Vijay concurs, “When we went to Dubai for the launch of the league, it was Sachin Tendulkar who introduced the teams and gave away the T-shirts. Sachin Tendulkar, I believe, is the brand ambassador of the event. Even I have been told that Sachin will be giving away the prizes.”
