When City Express caught up with Parthiepan he was busy with the dubbing work of his upcoming film Koditta Idangalai Nirappuga. “The title of my film means ‘fill in the blanks’.

When it is released the audience will have interpretations from the plot, and sub-plots. It will be an interesting film like my earlier venture Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam Iyakkam (2014).”

Shanthnu

Shanthnu and Parvathy Nair play the lead roles and there is no villain in the film. “I am experimenting as audience have got used to a mundane style of storytelling and they will reward novelty. Every filmmaker wants his product to be special in some way and I have made this film passionately,” he says. The film revolves around the lead pair and Parthiepan. Thambi Ramaiah provides comic relief and Simran plays a cameo.

“I work a lot on characterisation and I give priority to music. Sathya of Engeyum Eppodhum (2011) fame, has done a fabulous job,” he adds. The film has a mix of romance and thrill. His daughter Keerthana was in awe of how he had elaborated the trivial things

Parthiepan

Koditta... has been shot extensively in Mahabalipuram, Kerala, and a song sequence in Australia. “Prabhu Deva has promised that he’d choreograph one of the songs which will have Arun Vijay and Ineya,” he smiles.

Shanthnu calls Parthiepan a blank canvas where everything takes shape. “I have worked only with new comers and with Partheipan it was a huge learning experience.

He does everything uniquely. He utilises every shot that he takes. He clearly knows what he wants.”
