After being a huge hit in Tamil, director Susi Ganesh brought Mallanna to Andhra Pradesh through its Telugu version, which also proved to be a hit. While addressing the media during the success meet of the movie here on Thursday, the director, while thanking his entire cast and crew said that the movie was completely Vikram’s movie as the project was originally designed by the actor.
On the other hand, actor Vikram said that despite it being a part of the commercial cinema, the movie had ‘subtle acting and situations’, making it look like a foreign film. He also said that his co-star Shriya was a very “talented actress” and that they had a lot of fun while shooting for the movie. Accepting the “challenging role.” Shriya said that the movie was very close to her heart as it was a “different role, from all the movies that I have done.”
Mallanna is a super hero movie that shows how a CBI officer helps the needy through the money that he steals during the raids that he conducts. Describing it as the first south Indian Super Hero movie, Vikram said that the movie had a “Robin Hood type of a story line.”
Shriya said the Mallanna is a topical film considering the hue and cry over Swiss Bank accounts held by Indians and corruption among politicians and government officials. Parts of Mallanna have been shot in Mexico. “This is the first time a Telugu film has been shot in Mexico,” said Vikram.
