I love breaking rules: Jagapathi Babu

Says popular Telugu actor Jagapathi Babu, who will be seen playing Vikram’s friend in 'Thaandavam'
I love breaking rules: Jagapathi Babu

If you have been wondering  why a star like Jagapathi Babu has chosen a Tamil flick which will see him in the second lead, as the hero’s friend, then here’s the answer — “Why not?” asks Jagapathi and adds, “everything about 'Thaandavam', right from the production house UTV Motion Pictures to the director Vijay and actor Vikram, is grand. The story is very different as well.”

JB, as rechristened by director Vijay, has another reason to justify his decision. “I love breaking rules. When I decided to act in the Telugu flick 'Anthapuram', my fans didn’t quite agree with it. But I went ahead and did it and won the Nandi Award for my performance in the film in 1998. I love experimenting,” says JB.

While JB makes it clear that he doesn’t have any extra portions for the Telugu version, he says his character has a strong purpose in the story. “Otherwise, Vijay and UTV wouldn’t have come to me. In fact, that’s the USP of the film. For those who have been wondering why I’m in 'Thaandavam', the answer is in the movie itself,” smiles JB. JB essays the role of a police officer alongside Vikram, in the film.

What amazes the actor the most is the dedication of the entire unit of 'Thaandavam'. “When I started shooting for this film, I thought I was going to work with stars. But at the end of it, I realised I have worked with good human beings. Everyone in the team is so dedicated right from Vijay, Vikram, Anushka, Amy Jackson, to the  cinematographer Nirav Shah and composer G V Prakash,” he says. While he has signed a new film called Bachchan in Kannada where he will be sharing screen space with actor Sudeep, JB is open to exciting offers in Tamil as well.
