On March 27, 2015, a city civil court had slapped a restraining order on actress Shruti Haasan after Picture House Media Ltd, a leading media and entertainment house based out of  Chennai and also Hyderabad has initiated Civil and Criminal Proceedings against actress Shruti Hassan.

Shruti, after entering into a contractual agreement to be the female lead in bilingual film Oopiri starring Nagarjuna and Karthi directed by Vamsi Paidipalli, had reneged on her contractual obligations.

With her professionalism and ethics questioned, the actress seemed headed towards a downward spiral in the industry. Fast-forward to the present and Shruti has turned out to be one of the most sought-after actresses in the Telugu film industry.

Flying high on the success of her recent blockbuster Srimanthudu, Shruti has gone on to bag two more coveted projects – Premam remake opposite Naga Chaitanya and Surender Reddy’s next with Ram Charan.

Tentatively titled Majnu, the remake of hit Malayalam flick Premam, is being directed by Chandu Mondeti.

Announcing that Shruti will be one of the three heroines to feature oppostite Naga Chaitanya, Mondeti, who’s bagged a hit with 2014 film Karthikeya, is looking forward to working with the duo.

“It is a rare opportunity for me to direct this movie along with the crazy combination of Naga Chaitanya and Shruti Haasan.

Premam is a clean love story and there is a lot of scope for melody in this beautiful subject,” the filmmaker observed. The film is being produced by Naga Vamsee, who hopes the film will fare even better than the original. The film has three heroines and apart from Shruti, Anupama Parameswaran is playing another female lead, while the third heroine is yet to be finalised.

According to the makers, the film will go on floors in December and are planning to release the film in summer 2016.

Reuniting with Charan

After romancing the actor in 2014 entertainer Yevadu, Shruti will be paired opposite Ram Charan once again for the Telugu remake of Tamil blockbuster Thani Oruvan. According to sources, Surender Reddy, who is directing the film was keen to rope in Shruti for the role, which was originally essayed by Nayanthara in the Tamil version.  “Surender Reddy expressed his desire to cast Shruti to Charan, who gave his consent as the duo had bonded during the sets of Yevadu. The film will be launched next month after Charan returns from his vacation,” revealed a source in the know.  The buzz is that Shruti has also hiked her remuneration to Rs 1.5 crore as producers are willing to break the bank to cast her.  The film was originally supposed to be produced by DVV Danayya, who was replaced by Charan’s uncle Allu Aravind, after the debacle of Bruce Lee.
