Security Concerns Force Change of Baahubali Plan

Team Baahubali – director SS Rajamouli, producer Shobu Yarlagadda and lead actor Prabhas apologise to fans in an attempt to save face after yet another delay

Despite spending a lot of time and money towards the making and marketing of  the much-awaited historical epic Baahubali, the film seems to be stumbling onto one roadblock after another.

The first part of the two-part epic series was scheduled to release in May. As it was not ready, it was postponed to July. Now the highly anticipated audio launch followed by trailer release which was supposed to take place on May 31 has also been postponed due to security reasons.

As most fans are already making arrangements to attend the event, the makers went into damage control mode in an attempt to pacify fans.

“Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, we have to postpone the audio launch. Our original plan was to conduct a press meet on May 30, speak a bit about the movie and then hold the audio function and trailer launch on May 31 at Hitex grounds, after which we wanted to release in Hindi,” clarified SS Rajamouli, at a press meet in the city on Thursday.

“Everything was going smoothly and we had made all the necessary preparations with respect to parking and accommodating the fans. However, yesterday evening when we realised that an unprecedented number of fans were attending the event, the police had reservations about organising it with so many people,” he added.

While city police granted permission to the Baahubali team to go ahead with the event, they demanded that the number of fans allowed to enter be limited.

“Because of incidents that took place during audio launches of films like Gopala Gopala and Mirchi, police had their reservations regarding public safety. We felt that it would not be right if only a few fans are allowed inside and leave the rest hanging, which is why we decided to postpone it,” reasoned the Eega director.

He also explained that they are now discussing their options about the date and venue of the audio launch and urged fans to be patient.

Meanwhile, hundreds of fans who had already left their respective home towns to travel to the city to catch a glimpse of Prabhas and his co-stars, are disappointed. The Chatrapathi star, however, assured the fans that they will see him soon and if needed, he will personally visit them.

“I want to say to all the fans that I’m very sorry. We have taken this decision so that we don’t disappoint any of them and we wish to accommodate all of them. Even we were very excited about the event, so it’s unfortunate that it has been postponed. If you cannot come to me, I will come to you. Either way, we will decide something and make sure it happens,” Prabhas said.
