'Varun is One to Watch Out for'

Known for making hard-hitting films, director Krish Jagarlamudi is upcoming yet another unique concept with his upcoming film Kanche.

The film, which stars Varun Tej in the lead, is set in the backdrop of World War II. Krish, who has previously helmed films like Vedam and Vaanam, says there will always be an audience for a strong script.

“There is a risk in making any film but if you narrate it in a gripping way and put in a lot of emotion, everyone will immediately connect with it,” shares Krish.

Shedding light on how he came across the script for Kanche, Krish says, “One day, I came to know that Visakhapatnam had a connection with World War II and nearly 25 lakh soldiers had fought the war from there. I was surprised to hear this and decided to narrate a love story with one of the soldiers as the main lead. Certain stories are so inspiring that you want to narrate them to everybody.”

Kanche had garnered tremendous curiosity among the audience for its authenticity after the film’s makers posted on Twitter, documents used in the real war – that were used in the film.

“A lot of pre-production was done for this film. Right from the war weapons to the costumes and other minute details, we followed everything carefully. Our main aim was to give the viewer a realistic look, which I think we have managed to do,” he says, confidently.

Kanche, was initially slated for a Diwali release but the makers decided to advance the release of the film to Dasara, after VV Vinayak’s Akhil was postponed at the last minute.

“Everything happened so suddenly. We initially wanted to release the film on October 2 but decided to postpone it for a Diwali release. However, with the Dasara slot opening up at the last minute, we decided come out this week,” he explained.Heaping praise on lead actor Varun Tej, Krish says he’s one to watch out for in the future.

“He was our first and final choice for the film. The kid has got tremendous potential and worked really hard for the film. He has done an amazing job in Kanche and will be a force to reckon with after the film’s release,” he added.Kanche, which also features Pragya Jaiswal as the female lead, will release on October 22.
