‘A new star is born” thundered superstar Mahesh Babu to a rapturous applause at the audio launch of VV Vinayak’s Akhil, the launchpad of Nagarjuna’s younger son Akkineni Akhil.  Mahesh, who graced the event as its chief guest, heaped praise on the Akkineni scion and said Akhil is one to watch out for.

When I called Nagarjuna, he admitted that after all their hard work, Akhil swooped in at the last moment and stole the thunder. And I think that’s completely true, he’s definitely a future star,” observed the Srimanthudu actor. Mahesh, who’s currently shooting for Srikanth Addala’s upcoming family entertainer Brahmotsavam, also had a word of praise for VV Vinayak, who’s helming Akhil.

“Vinayak garu specialises in presenting new stars and he has done the same with Akhil. The legacy of ANR lives on through Akhil and if he were alive, he would be extremely proud of him,” Mahesh added.

Produced by Nithiin, Akhil also features Sayesha Saigal and is slated to release on October 22.
