Assam Floods: Recurring scourge without a solution?
The overflowing tributaries of the Brahmaputra river triggered by the heavy rains in the state of Assam is a yearly phenomenon, which causes loss of life and property. Nearly every year the drill is repeated, floods-dislocation of humans and animals-deaths. Yet, the Government is unable to come up with a durable solution for the menace.
