Amendment of Karnataka Private Medical Establishments Act: Doctors take to streets, hospitals shut

The doctors in Karnataka are demanding the rollback of the Karnataka Private Medical Establishment Bill 2017, which seeks uniformity in rates, transparency and accountability. The proposed amendment empowers the government to fix prices of various medical services and prescribing punishment, including imprisonment, for doctors in case of irregularities in pricing matters.
