Once branded as country with 'world's worst airport', Pakistan to have new operational airfield on Independence Day

Pakistan's Benazir Bhutto International Airport was in 2014 rated the worst in the world by a poll carried out by 'Guide to Sleeping in Airports' website based on parameters that included comfort, facilities, cleanliness and service. The country's capital city seems to strive to put those claims to rest, as PM  Nawaz Sharif recently announced the launch of a new airport here by August this year.

The Benazir Bhutto airport currently servicing Islamabad is actually located in the nearby city of Rawalpindi, and attached to a military base. It in the 2014 poll had beat Manila off the top of the list to fare as the world's worst airport.
