MNJ hospital to have new wing for women

HYDERABAD: Plans are afoot to establish a separate wing for women cancer patients and a bone marrow transplantation centre at the MNJ Institute of Oncology, at Red Hills here.
Health minister C Laxma Reddy on Monday held discussions with officials of health and family welfare department on construction of the new block.


Superintendent of the hospital Dr Jayalatha said a research wing (for molecular biology) would also be established in the new block. She said efforts are on for transfer of six -acre land which is around half-a-kilometer from the existing hospital in Red Hills.


In the existing hospital, patients are facing inconvenience because of lack of space. “Palliative care and new equipment for treatment and diagnosis of cancer, would be placed in the new block,” Jayalatha said.
The six-acre land belongs to the Government College of Nursing and Industrial Training Institute (ITI), located in Mallepalli.


Apart from the new block for MNJ Institute of Oncology, the health minister also discussed about new buildings for Osmania General Hospital.Separate funds for employees, journalists health schemes Opinions were expressed on allotting separate funds for Employees Health Scheme (EHS) and Journalists Health Scheme (JHS), at a meeting held by health minister C Laxma Reddy with officials concerned, on Monday. The minister said that a decision on the funds would be taken after consulting Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
He directed officials to study various health schemes to frame one here. He also said that employees should be distributed among Aarogyasri Scheme, EHS and JHS.
