Police submits action-taken report to NCPCR 

On the direction of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights the Rachakonda Police Commissioner submitted an action-taken report to in the case of AGAPE orphanage in Uppa.

HYDERABAD: On the direction of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), the Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, submitted an action-taken report in the case of AGAPE orphanage in Uppal. NCPCR’s direction was based on a complaint filed by Balala Hakkula Sangham.

Two months ago, Uppal Police had booked cases against warden and supervisor of AGAPE, that provides care for HIV-positive children after they made two HIV-positive children clean a man hole.

In a two-page document that was submitted, undersigned by Mahesh M Bhagwat, CP, Rachakonda, it is stated that an inquiry was conducted by assistant commissioner of police of Malkajgiri division based on complaint filed by Kanakatla Aravind on April 22, when he spotted the children cleaning the drain.

It was also revealed in the report when Aravind questioned the warden about the situation, he was told that the girls were being punished. A case was then registered under the Section 3 r/w 14 of the Child labour Act and Section 77 of JJ Act against the warden Prajavathi and supervisor, Elavarsan who were arrested and taken into custody.
