HYDERABAD: SodaBottleOpenerWala, a creatively cluttered Irani Cafe themed restaurant at Road No. 1, Jubilee Hills has launched a brand new, exciting menu with over thirty additions ranging from Daily Specials and Bar Snacks to delectable desserts. With around 85 items that are each unique, rich and heavy with flavour, the place is every foodie’s dream-come-true. The novel aspect of the menu: the Bar Snacks are finger-foods that are light on the stomach and go well with any alcoholic beverage.

They include Adu-tedhu Babycorn Fry: Aloo Aunty’s Vegetable Cutlets that are stuffed with traditional Parsi green coconut chutney. The intriguing names are the charm. The Chilli Cheese Pav which is an interesting take on the original Chilli Cheese toast with which you can never go wrong is made with restaurant-baked whole wheat pavs which are incredibly soft with a crunchy exterior and are laden with cheese and a drizzle of spices.

The bright orange hue of the restaurant with its red chequered table clothes that perfectly set off the chessboard- inspired flooring project an old-world charm. Importance has been given to health through introduction of a variety of salads like the Cheese Cherry Pineapple Salad with blue cheese and a green chilli dressing which is the brainchild of Mohit Balachandran, the Head Masalchi who says, “The brilliance of the new menu is the simplicity of the items. We’ve attempted to create versions of iconic dishes like Willingdon Club’s Eggs Kejriwal and Chicken Sanju Baba which is rumoured to be a creation of Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt.”

The restaurant has also introduced Daily Specials like Monday’s Dhan Daar Patio and Thursday’s Bombil Fry which is typically how Irani cafes function. The dishes offered have been stirred further into the Bombaiyya Street Food direction whilst also including traditional Parsi dishes, technique of cooking and spices that are mouth-watering. “We’ve drawn inspiration from legendary places and our new menu is our tribute to them. If you’re on the lookout for Bombaiyya food, the Paradise Chicken and Khari Kheema Pareedu are a must-try”, says Shaaz Mehmood, partner at SodaBottleOpenerWala.
