Woman accuses SI of misbehaviour

IDUKKI: A 34-year-old woman has accused Thodupuzha SI of misbehaviour and threatened to commit suicide on Facebook. The Police Department, however, denied the allegation. The woman had posted on her Facebook wall that she along with her husband, who was undergoing treatment at Kolenchery Medical College Hospital,  would end their life as they were disheartened at the callous attitude of the Thodupuzha SI who allegedly misbehaved with them when the two approached him to file a complaint against a shop owner.

The mother of two children told ‘Express’ that the whole issue began on November 10 when she along with her husband went to a bank in Thodupuzha town. As her phone battery was low, she asked a mobile shop owner if she could charge her phone for some time,  to which he agreed. However, he grabbed her hand when she was waiting at the entrance of the shop. Hearing her scream, her husband, who was waiting outside the shop,  rushed to the spot. As he started to yell in protest, the locals gathered and informed the Thodupuzha Police.
The police team led by the SI reached the spot and asked both the parties to come to the station. However, at the station, the woman alleged that the SI took sides with the shop owner and misbehaved with her,  to which her husband protested. She alleged that the SI and other policemen pushed him out and assaulted him.

As he collapsed, the police took him to Karikode Taluk Hospital which referred him to Kolenchery Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment for a neurology problem. However, the SI denied the charges saying he would take up the issue legally.
