High Court asks VACB to file status report in bar bribery case

The Kerala High Court on Friday directed the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) to submit before it the deadline for completing the investigation against former minister K M Mani in bar bribe

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Friday directed the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) to submit before it the deadline for completing the investigation against former minister K M Mani in bar bribery case. The court adjourned the case to December 15.The court issued the order on a petition filed Mani challenging the Thiruvananthapuram Vigilance Court order giving permission to the VACB to conduct a further probe into the case.

The Vigilance Court had granted permission for a further probe on a petition filed by Superintendent of Police R Sukeshan, who had initially probed the case. Sukeshan had filed the plea on the ground former Vigilance Director Shankar Reddy had intervened in the earlier probe with a view to giving Mani a clean chit. Suekshan had earlier filed a final report in the case stating no offence had been made out. The VACB submitted the investigation in the case is progressing.
