Pollachi car accident: Body of missing youth recovered

 The body of a Kerala youth who went missing after the car in which he was travelling plunged into a canal at Gedimedu near Pollachi on last Saturday, was recovered on Tuesday. 

KOCHI: The body of a Kerala youth who went missing after the car in which he was travelling plunged into a canal at Gedimedu near Pollachi on last Saturday, was recovered on Tuesday. According to the officers, the body of Rijo Johny, 33, a native of Ayyampuzha in Angamaly, was retrieved by the Fire and Rescue Services team by noon. Rijo was among the five passengers travelling in the car.

While Alfa, 20, was rescued, Jithin Joy, 27, Amal Paul, 20, and Jackson Ouseph, 20, were killed in the accident.  According to the police, the car hit the railing of a bridge across the canal on the Pollachi-Palani Road and plunged into the 11 ft deep water-filled canal. The accident happened around 7 am on December 9. The five-member team was on a pleasure trip to Pollachi.
