HC orders status quo on complaint against IG

The Kerala High Court on Thursday ordered to maintain status quo on the complaint against IG Manoj Abraham, alleging amassment of wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Thursday ordered to maintain status quo on the complaint against IG Manoj Abraham, alleging amassment of wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The court issued the interim order on a petition filed by Manoj Abraham challenging the Muvattupuzha Vigilance Court’s order directing the VACB to register case against him.

The prosecution told the court the Vigilance and Anti-corruption Bureau had not filed FIR against Manoj Abraham. The court recorded the prosecution’s submission and adjourned the case to March 28.   The Vigilance Court had issued an order on a complaint by P P Chandrasekharan Nair of Pathanamthitta, alleging unholy nexus between Manoj Abraham the quarry lobby. The complainant alleged the IG misused his position to stop action against illegal quarry operators.
It was alleged Manoj Abraham had built a mansion in Thiruvananthapuram and made several foreign trips - sponsored by some businessmen - and invested his ill-gotten money in a company with which his wife had ties.Manoj Abraham in his statement said a quick verification by the Vigilance Special Cell DSP had found the allegations against him were not substantiated by any material.
