KOCHI: An whole array of beautiful art designs on glass, ranging from glass blending, fusion to glass etching and glass paintings is what Latha Ajith’s glass design company specialises in. The glass design artist has been constantly experimenting with the new technologies and innovative designs on glass.
Latha always held a penchant for making glass designs. She started out by making glass showcases for bakeries. “I used to visit several glass painting factories and it was during one such visit I discovered this art. I found out that etching and colouring of the designs were outdated and not blending well. I felt I could make it more attractive and appealing,” said Latha, managing director, Krish Glass House.
The glass artist wanted to experiment with colours and designs and give each product a unique finishing. In 2008, she started her company where the prolonging effort was to explore various glass works through the application of innovative designs and new technologies which paved for its growth day by day. “I often found out that the kitchen cupboard designs were of the flowers and branches. So, we decided to give it a makeover and we found that our customers were very happy with the new designs,” said Latha. We use technology not just in the mainstream but also to maintain global standards at every stage, she added.
Besides doing glass paintings, they are now pioneers in fabric lamination and digital print- fusion work for partitions, logo, backdrops, kitchen doors wall mounting, pillar covering etc. They are also one among the leading companies for architectural bend glass. Along with these, they have introduced fusion painting for wall decoration and offer assistance with design solutions, technical support, and customer service support from price quotation to product delivery. They are also experts in making biblical emblems in churches and designs on domes of houses.
There is a coordination between all the workers where the basic image of the artwork is taken and given a more attractive look. Even the wooden paintings and terracotta designs are changed into glass paintings which are natural, abstract, mural figure paintings and wall cladding done using air brushing, deep colouring and fusion stain glass methods.
“We design them. Our artists make the glass designs according to the choice of our customers. It consumes time as there are different steps which are followed from glass cutting to polishing and giving it a perfect finish,” says Latha. In November, there will be a display of their special glass design products held in Kochi.
