It is said that there are immortals — gurus who act as guardians to the world. They have dedicated their life to attain totality through awakening of their Kundalini. It is well known among spiritualists that God has given man a human body as an instrument of action and within it resides both divinity and the subtle mysteries of the universe as vital power (Pran Shakti). This also is known as ‘Kundalini Shakti’ or the power of the serpent. Yogis attain self-realisation, through his ‘Sushumna’ (spine)—the ladder of Kundalini Shakti, that can rise up crossing all the Chakras (subtle spinal centres) to unite with ‘Sahastrar’.

At the base of the spinal cord lies dormant the powerful Muladhar Chakra. From this rise up three subtle channels, or Naadis, that reach the brain. The middle Naadi is known as Sushumna while the other two are the Ida and Pingala. The helix of the Naadis are connected on their way to Chakras, shaped like lotuses.

Once these Chakras are activated, the practitioner gains  powers like telepathy, auto-hypnotism and clairvoyance. Raising the Kundalini and uniting the Chakras can give great success in life. These can be attained through sadhana only. It is advisable to find a guru, whose Kundalini awareness is fulfilled, who will guide you through the entire

elaborate process. The Chakras are as follows:

Muladhar Chakra: It is situated at the mid spot between the anus and the reproductory organ and is the resting place of the three and a half-coiled Kundalini snake. In meditation, this Chakra is visualised as a four-petalled red lotus. Activation banishes all tensions and grants true happiness, beauty, perfect health and physical strength.

Element: Earth

Swadhishtthan Chakra: Located just opposite the pineal region, this Chakra is visualised as a vermilion coloured lotus with six petals. When activated, it rids you of stomach ailments, increases potency and cures impotence. It also boosts fearlessness and personal magnetism.

Element: Water

Manipur Chakra: Situated right opposite the navel region, this Chakra has 10 blue petals. Activation results in perfect digestion, banishes kidney stones, diabetes and liver problems. Raising this Chakra to the highest level is said to enable the yogi to fly, walk on water, be in telepathic contact with animals and plants and reach the pinnacle of meditation. Element: Fire

Anahat Chakra: It is situated opposite the heart. This 12-petalled red coloured lotus when activated illuminates the entire body and makes the vertebral column vibrate. It results in peace of mind, limitless divine joy, power to see the future, mesmerise anything or anyone and enables the yogi to enter into Samadhi. It cures heart problems and increases

your capacity to love.

Element: Air

Vishuddha Chakra: Located opposite the throat region, this ash coloured lotus possesses 16 petals. Activation rids of all ailments related to throat and thyroid afflictions and increases wealth, fame, knowledge, eloquence and deeper Samadhi. It also gives the yogi the power to choose the time of his death. Element: Air

Aagya Chakra: Also called the third eye, this Chakra is located right opposite the middle spot between the eyebrows. This white lotus has only two petals. Apart from the powers  attained by raising previous chakras, it gives the yogi the power to grant boons or give curse. Anything he wishes for is instantly fulfilled. He also attains the power to control the minds of others. Element: Sky

Sahastrar Chakra: This thousand-petalled lotus is the abode of Lord Shiva. On activation, the whole body becomes permeated with a fine, elixir-like secretion which frees the yogi of all diseases. Sahastrar Chakra is also termed the Dasham Dwar of Brahmarandhra. Famous yogis believe it is situated two inches deep inside the temporal region and three inches deep from the spot that is middle of two cerebral hemispheres. In the throat, it is located three inches above the palate. Inside the brain it is dormant in a tiny space above the ‘Maha Vivar’ hole of the brain. Awakening of the Sahastrar makes the yogi omniscient, and liberated from the cycles of birth and death, and he attains god.
