You love to be rooted in this world. It means you love to have all the luxuries of life, prosper. When you enter a public transport, you like to get a comfortable seat. Well, the secret to your success in life, the security that you wish to have lies in your Muladhara chakra. Mula means root and Adhara means the support. If there is one thing that totally is with you, supporting you in whatever you do, completely and wherever you go— it is your root chakra called the Muladhara chakra.

Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, is the presiding deity of this Chakra. That is the reason why everybody prays to Ganesha before beginning a task. It is everyone’s wish that their actions happen unhindered. The opening of this root chakra gives you complete support in all your endeavours. If the work is in tune with dharma or the path of righteousness, then you have a longer sustaining capacity with your work. If it is not in tune with dharma, then all actions that you do through this chakra will end up giving you trouble in the end.

All your memory is stored in this chakra, your animal instincts of fight or flight. In moments of crisis, we see even apparently weak-looking people doing brave acts of courage. It is this mechanism of the Muladhara chakra that comes to our aid at that moment.

If you wish to connect to this Chakra it can be done in a couple of ways: one is to see red! If you remember, visualize or meditate upon an object, cloth or image that is red in colour, then you can connect to the Muladhara Chakra. If you find that you are plagued with obstacles, then meditation on the Muladhara Chakra, or its deity Ganesha or the Bija Mantra of the Chakra ‘Lum,” will help.

In music to, the base note of ‘Sa,’ among the seven notes has the vibration of the Muladhara Chakra. Another image for meditation on the Muladhara can be an elephant too. Having a picture of an elephant in the room where you work will help you to connect to this elephantine energy of the Muladhara Chakra!

If you feel at times that you are being overwhelmed with problems, the solution is just deep within you. Sit quietly and meditate on the base of your spine which is the seat of the Muladhara.

Allow all the thoughts to come and go. You will see all the thoughts that are blocking your progress. Chant the word “Lum,” seven times along with the exhalation, after a deep inhalation. You will see your life becoming much softer and flowering beautiful like the bright red rose that comes out of a bush of thorns!
